There is / areを使って、「～がある・いる」と存在を表します。

かたちThere is + 単数名詞 / There are + 複数名詞

ここに注意thereはここでは場所の「そこ」という意味ではありません。

There are two cats in the garden.庭に猫が2匹います。

There is a park near my house.私の家の近くに公園があります。

There are many students in the room.部屋にはたくさんの生徒がいます。
